On May 3, 91ÊÓƵ's Indigenous Student Alliance in partnership with the Beaverton/Hillsboro School Districts, is hosting the annual POWWOW in the Stoller Center gym. Doors open at noon and the event will end at 10 p.m.
There are two Grand Entries, the first at 1pm and the second at 7pm. The event will honor Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Persons. Wear read to show support for this important issue. We will also be honoring our graduating students.
Indigenous vendors from across Oregon will be selling arts, crafts, and food. Be sure to stop by and get your frybread!
Powwow is free and all are welcome. Please adhere to powwow etiquette:
- Do not walk into or across the dance circle
- Listen to the MC to know if and when you are allowed to participate in dances and when you cannot take photos
- Know that many people will be wearing regalia (not costumes), so ask before taking photos
- Be respectful; no alcohol; no interrupting singers or dancers
- Drums and singing will be loud, feel free to wear ear plugs
- Ask questions, learn, enjoy the experience
